FAQs
Being an alternative medicine, Naturopathy can have a few misconceptions! We would love to open more minds to the idea of natural, holistic medicine practices. Sometimes our healthcare providers can boil humans down to just a bunch of symptoms for which we can prescribe medications. However, the goal of a naturopath is to work with you to find the root cause of your symptoms and find a holistic treatment that works with you to treat and manage that cause. Naturopaths know that humans are complex beings and our healthcare should work with that!! Read below as we try to bust some more myths about alternative medicine!
Why should I see a Naturopath?
Naturopaths can support you with a range of health concerns, such as skin conditions, pain, hormonal imbalances, fertility, immunity, mental health and aging. Naturopaths will work with you to gain a comprehensive understanding of you and your health, and develop goals alongside you to improve and manage your symptoms. You really can see a naturopath at any point in your life. For example, you’ve had some recent unexplained symptoms and want to explore the cause, you’ve got a chronic illness and you would like support with managing it naturally, or you’ve recently recovered from a health difficulty and you want to maintain your health. If you’re not sure if a Naturopath is the right person for you, give us a call today and we can give you more information about what we can offer you.
What is herbal medicine?
The herbs we know are the ones that you use in your roast chicken stuffing or in your spag bol. But there’s a lot more herbs out there than we realise! Not only do we use herbs in cooking, but when used medicinally, AKA herbal medicine, they can offer amazing health benefits! Herbal extracts are one of the medicines that naturopaths may use to support someone’s health. They are formed by combining a large amount of a herb with alcohol to draw the good stuff from the plant. Herbs can also be prepared in other forms, such as infused in tea or oil, creating other types of herbal medicine to suit a range of health needs. It is recommended that if you are interested in taking herbal medicine, you should see a naturopath to receive a treatment plan that suits you best. Your naturopath can support you with dosage and tweak your treatment as needed to achieve optimal effectiveness.
How are Naturopaths trained?
Naturopaths can be trained through a number of programs. Commonly, Naturopaths are trained through university degrees. When searching for the Naturopath that is right for you, we recommend looking into their credentials and any additional training that they hold.
